My background uniquely combines experiences as Leader, Non-executive director and Chairman, Consultant and Expert in many areas from public affairs to private sector. 

I have been a Member of Havering Council since 1994 and in that time I have held many different positions mainly in the fields of Information Technology and Communications, having worked in information technology for the Police IT Organisation for 12 years. In 1998 I became Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group on Havering Council and Deputy Leader of the Council in 2002. My responsibilities were e-government and communications but I later took on responsibility for the Council’s drive to improve its Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) score.

I have been Leader of the Council since 2004. In this capacity I chaired the Havering Strategic Partnership, was a member of the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation Board and from 2008 to 2010 was Deputy Leader of London Councils. In November 2010, I was appointed to the board of the Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in the role of Non-Executive Director.

During my leadership of the third largest borough I worked closely with the CEO to create a high performing organisation with a £700m business by ensuring robust performance systems are in place. I loved the challenge of implementing a transformation programme with the elements of the Business Process Outsourcing, which delivered £25m in savings this year and projected £15m in savings next year. 

I possess a unique experience in establishing cross-party partnerships as a BT Strategic Partnership director and as a former LGA peer, and I have facilitated collaborations between or with representatives of all UK political forces. I am an expert in Public Affairs and Communication and I use my creativity in delivering important messages through various channels, from local government to the London Assembly and the Whitehall levels. 

I am an inspirational Business Leader and an accomplished Chairman and a Non-Executive director for various public entities. I lead strategic partnerships to success as from the Early Stage Investment through Growth Acceleration to Ultimate Delivery phases.
